Jim Baek is a Senior Vice President at Locus — a Virginia-based CDFI that creates capital access by developing community partnerships and innovative tools that tackle systemic challenges and advance promising opportunities. As part of Locus’ impact investment services team, Jim designs and manages credit enhancement programs that help mission-focused lenders to unlock capital for community development. Jim serves as the executive director of the Community Investment Guarantee Pool (CIGP), a Locus-managed fund that provides financial guarantees for affordable housing, entrepreneurship and climate solutions with an equity lens. Prior to Locus, Jim headed Deutsche Bank USA’s $600 million U.S. community development and impact investing efforts. Jim holds a BA in Political Science from Grinnell College and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He was born in Korea, grew up in Chicago and lives in Brooklyn, NY with his family.
